Day One

So, I have decided to start walking again and hopefully get to a point where I can run and enjoy it. With the help of Navman, I have the following stats.

1.52 miles at 3.6 mph with a pace of 16.38. Well, I'm certainly not blazing any trails, but it's a start.

I Hear The School Bell

Well, I finally made it!!! I got my acceptance letter back in May for the Radiology program and I start this fall. Since I will be driving to Waco everyday for classes, we got a new car. A cute little VW Beetle. She is salsa red!

Classes start August 27th and clinicals start September 25th. Yeah!! Now that I have registered for my classes, there are just a few things left to do. Get my student ID, books, and uniforms. Oh, and most importantly I need to take my drug test and have a criminal background check. Those two things have to be done after August 25th.

It is nice that I will not be the oldest one in the class, however I am at that end of the spectrum.

Rain, Rain, Rain; Before and After

YEAH!!!! The sun is shinning. Thank god for that. The good thing is that the water at the lake house is now at normal level!! It hadn't been at normal level since my parents bought it about six years ago. That dock can actually be used now. Wish I could get my dad back out there again. He always loved going to the lake, but now he is so sick that he won't even entertain the thought.
Anyway...One of these days we'll make it back out to the lake. Thanks to Shawn, I can ride that jet ski at full speed and not be scared.

Old Friends

Tonight I am going to the 40th birthday party for Rhonda. We actually went to grade school together. Maybe we don't see each other much or talk very often, however we will always be friends. It was so funny how we got back in touch after almost 30 years. She saw my name and phone number in a newspaper asking for volunteers for a function and recognized my last name. Spell is a unique last name. Anyway, she called me and asked if I had gone to Benbrook Elementary school and told me her name. Of course I remembered her. It is possible she was my first girl crush. You know how you think about people that you once knew years ago and wonder what they are doing? That's Rhonda. I wondered about her and how she was. Now, I cannot believe we are turning 40 this year! Boy, time flies. So, I am looking forward to going to the party and meeting a bunch of new people. You can never have too many friends.

San Antonio

We had the best time in San Antonio! Thanks to our "sisters" we stayed at the Westin Hotel ON the riverwalk. A late birthday celebration for my wife. She has been my best friend for almost 15 years and my wife for 2 of them. Our love is the kind of love that people write poems and make movies about. There is no way my life could be any better. She is the most wonderful woman I have ever known.

Friends

Friends are like flowers. They grow, bloom and get bigger and taller. We feed them with warmth, nourishment and care. Everyone needs to take a look at their garden and see if it needs attention. If we do not care for the beautiful flowers, they will wilt, loose their beautiful blooms and eventually perish. A life without a flower garden is bland and unrewarding. Learn to see the beauty in the tiny flowers we call weeds, however remember that they are still "weeds."
